Catching

My parents came for a short visit in May. It was the first time the kids had seen them since we were out in California last year.

They rented a house by a lake with a little dock the kids could fish from. We were out there every day for the better part of a week and didn’t catch a damn thing. Finally the kids know what fishing is really like.

I like to think they learned great lessons about patience and enjoying life even when it isn’t going your way, but somehow I’m not sure that happened. We had fun anyway. It was sunny and warm, but not too hot. Probably the last days of good weather we’ll have this summer. The heat and humidity are coming.
